About the Book Set in the village of Point Edward, Ontario in the year 1936, the novel depicts the struggle of a working-class family to survive in an era of high unemployment and a near non-existent safety net. A cross-section of small-town Canadian society provides a backdrop to the action, and adds touches of humour and pathos. Bewilderment is the seventh in a series of novels by Don Gutteridge tracing the story of Point Edward and Lambton County from 1840 to 1945. About the Author Don Gutteridge is a well-known educator, as well as a widely published poet and novelist. He is the author of Brave Season, Incredible Journeys and The Dimension of Delight (The Althouse Press) - pedagogical books for teachers. He is professor emeritus at the Faculty of Education, The University of Western Ontario. |
