Winner of Award for Best Fiction Biography of A Beagle is the winner of the 2001 Dog Writers Association of America Writing Competition best book of fiction award.

About the Book Biography of a Beagle is a tribute to Brandy, a swashbuckling little canine rake that saw life as one grand opportunity for adventure and ´fear´ as the only true obscene four-letter word. As Charles Schultz once wrote, "Happiness is a warm Beagle."

About the Author Gail MacMillan´s love of writing and dogs is much like the riddle of the chicken and the egg. She´s not sure which came first. Both, however, have served to shape and enrich her life enormously.

Born in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Gail is a graduate of Queen´s University and author of eleven books, among them two international dog breed books, A Breed Apart and The Nova Scotia Duck Toling Retriever. She and husband Ron, whose photos illustrate her books, live in Bathurst, New Brunswick, with a Little River Duck Dog named Molly and a no-name brand rescue puppy called Barbie-Q.

Illustrations Over 24 colour photographs.
