About the BookOn the stormy night of September 29, 1926, the luxurious American passenger steamer, Picadilly, crossing Lake Superior from Isle Royale to Canada, is wrecked, after striking a reef between Burnt Island and Powder Rock. Fortunately, all 162 of her passengers are rescued before the ship disappears beneath the waves. They are taken in and cared for by residents of Silver Islet, a nearby coastal community, who, before Picadilly slips to her dark, watery grave, do some very bizarre things. Their actions will haunt them for many years. Indeed, there are those who say that the ghost of Captain John Greenbrier, Picadilly´s master, haunts them to this very day.
