About the Book    The events described here are true. They took place in 1966. Memories fade however, and sources are lost, so the events must be reconstructed from police reports, court records, Hansard reports and recollections. The facts have been collated, analysed, selected, and finally, dramatized. But the sequences and events are accurate, as are Paul Chartier´s writings, quoted exactly as he wrote them.

About the Author    James Fontana was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario, near Boundary Waters country where Ontario and Minnesota are joined by Rainy Lake, and where the bass fishing is so good you have to hide behind a tree to bait your hook.
   Educated at the University of Toronto (St. Michael´s College), the University of Ottawa (Faculty of Law) and Osgoode Hall Law School, he was admitted to the practice of law in 1966. He worked initially as both a provincial and federal prosecutor in Ottawa, Canada´s capital, before spending fifteen years in the field of civil litigation and criminal defence work. In 1984 he became a judge of the Ontario Court of Justice (Criminal).
   Throughout his career, Jim has lectured frequently at prosecutors´ conferences, coroners´ conferences, police training programs, and continuing education programs for both defence and prosecuting attorneys. His publications include a five volume series on the law of search and seizure which is used widely by the legal profession, and many articles and commentaries. His novel No Cause of Death based upon a true crime event, was published in 1994.
    Jim´s hobbies are bass fishing, amateur radio and restoring an old Morgan car. Jim is a member of the Crime Writers of Canada.
