About the Book This book tells a story of an adventurous, quizzical Manitoba Métis´ recollective inquiries into modern Québéc literature in the light of three ideas as old as they are new - of "rebirth," "revolution" and "unit." All the incidents that Outridings recalls are severally funny - by turns highspirited, grim, sympathetic, ambiguous, critical and celebratory in their humour and almost invariably ironic in their effort to clarify, illuminate.

About the Author Camille La Bossière was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, and raised in Saint-Boniface, Manotiba. Schoolwork in Manitoba, at l´École Provencher, l´École du Prècieux-Sang, and St. Paul´s College, then in British Columbia, at St. Louis´ College, prepared him for post-secondary studies in New York, New Jersey, Québec, Ontario, B.C. and Newfoundland. He came to the University of Ottawa in the role of professeur comparé in 1979, after a tenure of nine years as teacher of Canadian, British, American and European literature and the history of ideas in the Department of English and Philosophy at the bilingual Royal Roads Military College of Canada (Victoria, B.C.). His publications include five books and nine editions. A professor at the University of Ottawa for twenty years, he took early retirement in 2003.
