Writer´s Guidelines

The press publishes most genres but specializes in Canadian authored or oriented material.

Multiple submissions and unsolicited material are not accepted - please query first, including synopsis and/or outline and a sample chapter or equivalent, together with return postage or international postal coupons, and adequately sized return envelope or package. Material arriving without such pre-paid return is scrapped.

It is recommended that authors, before any query or submission, research the market in the writer´s market periodicals available in the reference section of most libraries, and also look through the latest Borealis / Tecumseh Catalogue - available from the address below. Do not query or send material unless you are reasonably certain that it is consistent with what the publisher usually produces. Forty-eight pages in length is minimum for publication.

Normally, we take three to four months to reply, publish by contract, pay a ten percent royalty on net price annually, or for some editorial projects a flat fee. We usually publish within one to two years of receipt of an approved contract.

The press accepts for appraisal material that seriously involves the human situation, in a mature, skilful manner and interesting, well written style.
